FAQs

Rafferty Paving

  • What types of paving services do you offer?

Our expertise lies in residential and commercial paving. We offer a comprehensive range of services including driveway and parking lot construction, asphalt installation and repairs, sealcoating, line striping, and excavation work. We're equipped to handle projects of various scales and complexities.
  • Do you install new driveways or just repair existing ones?

We provide both services. Our team is capable of constructing new asphalt driveways from the ground up, as well as repairing existing ones. We offer end-to-end solutions, managing everything from initial excavation to the final finishing touches.
  • How long does it take to pave a driveway?

The duration of a driveway paving project typically ranges from one to two days for most residential properties. This timeframe can vary based on the size of the driveway and prevailing weather conditions. For larger commercial projects, the timeline may be extended.
  • What's the best time of year to pave or repair asphalt?

The optimal period for paving or repairing asphalt is during warm, dry weather. This usually falls between spring and early fall when temperatures consistently remain above 50°F. These conditions are ideal for proper asphalt curing and compaction.
  • Can you pave during cold or rainy weather?

Weather conditions significantly influence the paving process. Cold temperatures or wet conditions can negatively affect asphalt curing and compaction. In such circumstances, we may need to reschedule the project to ensure the best results for our clients.
  • How do I care for my new asphalt driveway?

To maintain your new asphalt driveway, we recommend avoiding parking on it for the first 24-48 hours after installation. It's also advisable not to turn your vehicle's wheels while stationary. For optimal protection, wait 6-12 months before applying a sealcoat. Regular maintenance is key to extending the lifespan of your pavement.
  • What is asphalt sealcoating and why is it important?

Asphalt sealcoating is a protective measure that involves applying a layer over asphalt surfaces. This coating serves as a barrier against potential damage from water, oil, and UV rays. Additionally, it enhances the overall appearance of the asphalt, contributing to its longevity and aesthetic appeal.
  • How often should I seal my driveway or parking lot?

For optimal protection and maintenance, we suggest applying a sealcoat to your asphalt surfaces every two to three years. However, this frequency may vary depending on factors such as wear and tear and exposure to weather conditions.
  • Do you offer striping and line painting services?

Yes, we do provide professional line striping services. Our offerings include parking lot striping, ADA compliance markings, traffic flow indicators, and safety-related line painting. These services are essential for organizing and optimizing your paved areas.
  • Can you repair cracks and potholes in my existing asphalt?

Certainly. Our services include patching, crack filling, and pothole repair for existing asphalt surfaces. These repair methods are designed to restore both the appearance and functionality of your pavement, extending its lifespan and improving safety.
